How do I choose the right product for my current equipment?

First, determine the size of your tractor and implement, typically referred to as the Category. Category 1 and Category 2 refer to standardized specifications for the 3-point hitch system used to connect implements (such as plows, mowers, and other attachments) to the tractor. The 3-point hitch is a crucial mechanism that allows the tractor to lift, lower, and control the attached implements. The primary differences between Category 1 and Category 2 are in the dimensions of the main pins and lift arms.

Category 1:
Main Pin Diameter: The main pins for Category 1 tractors usually have a diameter of about 7/8 inch (about 22 mm).
Lift Arm Spacing: The distance between the two lift arms (the arms that extend from the tractor and connect to the implement) is approximately 26 inches (about 660 mm).
Lift Arm Pin Diameter: The pins connecting the lift arms to the implement are typically around 5/8 inch (about 16 mm) in diameter.

Category 2:
Main Pin Diameter: Category 2 tractors have larger main pins with a diameter of about 1-1/8 inches (about 29 mm).
Lift Arm Spacing: The distance between the two lift arms in Category 2 is wider than Category 1, approximately 32 inches (about 813 mm).
Lift Arm Pin Diameter: The pins that attach the lift arms to the implement are usually around 3/4 inch (about 19 mm) in diameter. The larger size of the main pins and lift arms in Category 2 tractors provides them with greater strength and load-carrying capacity. This allows Category 2 tractors to handle larger and more substantial implements, making them suitable for heavier agricultural tasks.

It's essential to match the correct implement to the corresponding tractor category. Attempting to connect an implement designed for Category 2 to a Category 1 tractor or vice versa can lead to compatibility issues and safety concerns. Always check the specifications of your tractor and implements to ensure they are compatible and safe to use together.

Our patented quick hitch options include:
Category 1 - Designed to fit most category 1 tractor lift arms and implements with pin holes measuring ⅞”
Category 2 - Designed to fit most category 2 tractor lift arms and implements with pin holes measuring 1-⅛”
Category 1-2 - Designed to fit over most category 1 tractor lift arms (⅞” pins) with hooks designed to fit a category 2 implement (1-⅛” pins).
Category 2-1 - Designed to fit over most category 2 tractor lift arms (1-⅛” pins) with hooks designed to fit a category 1 implement (⅞” pins).

How does Pat's Easy Change System work with my PTO shaft?

Pat's Easy Change System adds 4" of length to your tractor's lift arms. Typically this won't affect utilizing our product, but the further rearward placement may require purchase of an extra-long top link and/or extending the PTO by installing a longer shaft or using a PTO extender.
Does this apply to your set-up?
We suggest checking out PTO Link, based in Stafford, Texas, and have found that their PTO Link products are compatible with our patented quick hitches and even help with the spacing issues. Check out their product line here

Will Pat's Easy Change System fit my older Ford or Massey?

Yes! While our typical Category 1 quick hitch would fit the lift arms of an older Ford or Massey, the main pin for your installation will need to be longer to ensure a sturdy fit. We provide those longer pins and additional spacer shims to fit even the trickiest of hook-ups! Just ask for the XL Ford/Massey kit when purchasing so we can make sure you receive your custom accessories.
